GAZA CITY, 29 October 2024 — International human aid groups and organizations protested today over Israel’s cutting off access to Gaza from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).’ The state cited security reasons following the increasing region’s tension. The order was enforced last week on the work of the agency meant to deliver food, drinking water, and medicines essential to over two million in Gaza who are experiencing living difficulties at an ever-intensifying scale.
The UNRWA authorities attribute the sharp depletion of their life-essential supplies to the imposition of the block. “Our stocks are running very, very low,” UNRWA spokesman Christopher Gunness told a news conference Monday. “Access to lifesaving aid is not a luxury but a necessity for the people of Gaza.”.
This mainly affects medical resources, such as emergency services and the treatment of chronic illnesses. As indicated, hospitals are already low on critical supplies. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement, “The healthcare system is at the breaking point, and without immediate relief, it could collapse. “
Several world leaders, including the U.S. and European Union leaders, have called upon Israel to reconsider its decisions. UN Secretary-General António Guterres told reporters that “the right of humanitarian access is basic and must not be affected at any cost.”
Global support is pressing for immediate action in such social media campaigns as #SaveGaza. International aid bodies are warning that further delays may be catastrophic for residents in Gaza.
They argue that defence in terms of the Israeli government for their decision, citing their fears in security matters and misused aid. Humanitarian organisations said necessary measures are taken so that proper aid delivery to the people is done without risk, yet the security officials continue, emphasising how hard it will be to balance this equation when things get very intense.
