A US Air Force employee who committed suicide outside the Israeli Embassy died on Monday. An Air Force personnel set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC on Sunday, saying he would ‘no longer participate in genocide’. The Metropolitan Police Department said the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell.

According to an official, the Air Force personnel reached the embassy shortly before 1 pm on Sunday and started ‘live-streaming’ on the video streaming platform ‘Twitch’.

Raised “ Free Palestine ”

Authorities believe Bushnell put down his phone after starting the livestream and then sprayed flammable liquid on himself and set himself on fire.

While setting fire, the Air Force personnel said that he ‘will no longer participate in the massacre’. While burning he also raised the slogan ‘Free Palestine’.

A gun was also pointed at the soldier.

According to American media reports, the security officials also pointed a gun at the soldier. Reports said that when the soldier was standing outside the embassy, the security officials tried to talk to him.

Bushnell had sent mail to many websites.

According to the BBC report, Bushnell had emailed many journalists, leftist and anarchist news websites. The mail read, ‘Today, I am planning to engage in an extreme act of protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people. This will be extremely disturbing.’

Bushnell, from San Antonio, Texas, was raised in Massachusetts and attended public schools on the Cape Cod Peninsula. According to the report, the Air Force did not disclose details of Bushnell’s service. But Stars and Stripes, a military newspaper, reported that he was holding the rank of senior airman.

More than 29 thousand Palestinians died in Israeli attacks.

The Israel-Gaza war began on October 7 last year when Hamas gunmen infiltrated into southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 253 others hostage.

According to the Hamas-run health ministry, 29,300 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of Israeli military operations. According to the United Nations, as of mid-January, 1.9 million civilians were displaced in Gaza amid Israeli military operations. Which is 85% of its population.

Why did America impose veto…

US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said – This proposal could jeopardize the talks between America, Egypt, Israel and Qatar regarding the security of Palestinians.

She said- Immediate ceasefire will put the release of hostages in danger. An agreement with Hamas is needed to release the hostages. Demanding an unconditional ceasefire will not bring lasting peace. This can increase rust. That’s why we are vetoing.

There was ceasefire from 24 November to 30 November. Hamas and Israeli forces halted the attacks for 7 days. Then 107 hostages were released.
