The head of the formidable Lebanese military organization Hezbollah threatened to prevent residents of northern Israel from returning to their homes at the start of the upcoming school year unless the Israeli government ceased its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
At the same time that the Gaza assault began on October 7, Hezbollah and the Israeli military were engaged in cross-border fighting along Lebanon’s southern border. The Iranian ally has stated that it is shooting rockets toward Israel to protect its ally, the Palestinian organization Hamas, which controls Gaza, as well as to prevent Israel from attacking Lebanon.
On the TV program on Monday, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah once again said that Hezbollah would continue to fight until Israel continued with its attack on Gaza.
“The connection between the Lebanese front and Gaza is clear, definite, and unshakeable,” he said. “No one will be able to separate them. “
The ongoing conflict has caused tens of thousands of people to be displaced on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border and has raised the risk of a broader war between the heavily armed enemies.
The families who moved from northern Israel wanted to return home by September 1 to attend the academic school year. Nevertheless, Nasrallah talked to the refugees, telling them to demand their government to stop the war on Gaza if they wanted to solve the problem.
Besides, he noted that the operation of Israel in Rafah, southern Gaza, which is widely condemned, had reached a “dead end,” as it is trying to eliminate Hamas while, at the same time, it is killing at least 35,000 Palestinians during the months of bombardment.
The Northern Jabalia refugee camp, which is nearly half empty and still partly ruined, was the one that was attacked on the ground and in the air on Monday. The army had before announced that it was withdrawing from the place.
Nasrallah has said that the army has pressured Israel during its Gaza war because of the military activities of Hamas’s allies in Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon, which are backed by Iran.
The efforts made by Qatar and Egypt to secure a cease-fire in Gaza failed last week as Israel rejected a proposal from the international mediators that sought a truce in Gaza.
Israeli forces retook an area they said had been disassembled months ago by venturing into the wreckage of Gaza’s northern side on Monday. Moreover, troops and tanks were combing a highway in the south to inject into the congested city of Rafah.
Security sources reported that the Israeli military kept on to their strikes on Camp David and Beirut on Sunday and Monday, too.
Hezbollah has fired rockets in response, which Nasrallah has said is the group “continuing to develop its operations in quantity and quality.
The Israel attacks have caused the death of more than 350 people in Lebanon, mainly Hezbollah and allied fighters, as well as the civilians who are more than 50. At the same time, stereotypes surrounding the conflict are giving rise to the attack from Lebanon that has claimed at least ten civilian lives and 12 soldiers in Israel.
