JK Rowling and Elon Musk Named in Cyberbullying Lawsuit Filed by Olympic Champion Imane Khelif

PARIS—The Olympic boxing champion, Imame Khelif, filed a lawsuit against JK Rowling, Elon Musk, and others for cyberbullying. Khelif, who won Algeria’s first gold medal in women’s boxing, faced difficulty being televised because of her gender and nationality during her Olympic tour.

On Wednesday, C zembla asked Khelif’s attorney, Nabil Boudi, if they had deposited a complaint on Friday with the Paris public prosecutor. It is a toxic culture lawsuit filed against X (previously referred to as Twitter) under French legal regimes that avers that Khelif was exposed to ‘misogynistic racist and sexist’ hate speech within social media platforms.

“The complaint ensures that the prosecution gets all the chances to investigate against all the people involved,” Boudi explained. The lawsuit covers known and unknown persons who posted hate messages under fake names. Celebrities identified in the complaint include JK Rowling and Elon Musk. Boudi also brought the president of the former USA, Donald Trump, into an investigation because he made some open statements on the issue.

Khelif, 25, broke her silence on the abuse heaped on her within weeks of her coming under the public microscope over her gender after it was disclosed that she had been stripped of boxing rights to feature in the 2023 boxing world championships following a shocking gender test administered by the International Boxing Association (IBA). However, the IOC rejected this test, and through this disagreement, the IBA lost recognition as the sole governing body for boxing through issues such as corruption and governance.

This sent the controversy to a new high when Italian boxer Angela Carini threw in the towel on the about against Khelif in the 66kg boxing competition after barely 46 seconds, the force of Khelif’s punches being cited. It became news, leading to a barrage of vile comments on social media, especially on X.

Author and self-confessing transphobe JK Rowling made it worse by commenting on the match and tweeting a photo of Khelif accompanied by the text ‘Dear 14…’. 2 million followers: These words can be read in one of the posts: “The smirk of a male who knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. “In another post, Rowling categorically declared, “I don’t say Khelif is trans. My issue, and that of many others, is that male violence against women will become an Olympic.

Elon Musk also weighed in, sharing a post from U.S. swimmer Riley Gaines stating, “Men don’t belong in women’s sports,” and agreeing with, “Absolutely. ” Former President Donald Trump joined the conversation by posting a picture from the match with the caption: The president has promised his voters that he will ‘‘keep men out of women’s sports!’’

However, Boudi noted that the lawsuit is not restricted to such individuals and only keeps global accessibility. “We’re asking the prosecution to investigate all individuals involved, whether they are named in our lawsuit or not he confided to Variety. “They will be put on trial if the case gets to the court. ”

Later, Khelif’s trainer, Pedro Diaz, the master and trainer of 21 Olympic champions, described the severe impact of cyberbullying on the young sportswoman. “The first time she fought in the Olympics, there was this storm outside the ring,” Diaz said. ‘I have never set my eyes on anything as disgusting as that. ’

However, Khelif keeps focus; he has strong determination throughout the race. After her victory over China’s Yang Liu, she reaffirmed her identity: “I am capable of competing in this competition. I am a woman like any other woman I was born a woman I have lived a woman I competed a woman I won a woman so they can never have that doubt I am a woman “ she said. “They are enemies of success that is what I call them and that gives my success this extra spice because of these attacks. ”
