Joe Biden withdraws from the presidential race and fully supports Vice President Kamala Harris

On Sunday, the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, opted out of the 2024 presidential race for the Democrats’ ticket to embrace his vice president, Kamala Harris.

“Certainly, serving as your President has been the greatest honour of my life. Although I desired to contest for this position for another term, it is in the best interest of my party and the United States for me to step aside and concentrate on being President alone for the remaining time of my term,” Biden said in a post on X.

On November 5, Biden threw his full support behind Harris, stating he backed her to be the party’s candidate for the presidential elections. ‘Democrats, it is time to get united and defeat Trump,’ he said, entertaining the nation by giving further information about his decision later in the week.

Biden’s decision comes after criticism of how he fared in a debate with Trump before the November polls. Trump was officially nominated for the presidency of the United States during the Republican National Convention (RNC) held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a call intensified for Biden to pull out.

After Biden offered his endorsement, Harris said he felt privileged and vowed to clinch the nomination. ‘‘For the past year, I barnstormed the country to emphasise that there is a clear decision to be made in this historic election campaign,” and this is what I will continue to do in the days and periods to come. She warned that Donald Project 2025 would only serve the extreme population. ”Yes, we have 107 days left before Election Day, but together we stand, and together we shall overcome as we are determined to win this”.

CNN stated that the plans to withdraw Biden were made on Saturday night, and the President is presently self-isolating from Covid contamination in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Several key democratic leaders supported Harris immediately after Biden’s endorsement but this was far from endorsement. I support Kamala Harris. Perhaps, it has to be due to the President. Reducing their blessing was a statement, ‘We are privileged to stand with the President in supporting Vice President Harris and anything within our powers, we shall do. ’.

Another verified account that endorsed Harris was Senator Tim Kaine on X, where he said, ‘‘I am excited to vote for my friend @KamalaHarris and a good presidential running mate, ensuring that Virginia remains blue to develop further. Mark.

However, just several House Republicans, including Speaker Mike Johnson, urged Biden to resign from the presidency. ”If Joe Biden is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President,” Johnson said in a statement that added, “He must resign from office immediately. November 5 cannot arrive soon enough. ”

The Democratic Party now has the task of rallying around Harris and going into the ugly battle against Trump, with the country watching its every move.
