Trump slams on Harris mental fitness and suggests she should be prosecuted.

ERIE, Pennsylvania: Continuing his harsh personal attacks against his Democratic rival, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump repeated Sunday an insult that Kamala Harris is “mentally impaired” while also stating that she should be “impeached and prosecuted.”

Many of the themes of Trump’s speech were the same as those of another event held one day prior, which Trump entitled the “Dark Speech,” delivered in Erie, Pennsylvania. He told a rapt audience gathered on Sunday that Harris was the mastermind of what he called an “invasion” on the US-Mexico border and further called on her to be impeached and prosecuted for her criminality.

“Crooked Joe Biden became mentally impaired,” he added. “Sad. But fake Kamala Harris, the woman, I think there is no way she could help being a liar. It now starts to feel like there’s something different about Kamala. But I just can’t put my finger on it; there has to be something missing, though I don’t know what it is.

‘‘Yeah, and you know what, everybody knows it.’’With just over a month until the election, Trump is escalating his use of personal and offence-based appeals, even as some Republicans say he’d be wise to focus more on their issues.

His advice to oppose political rivals should be more criminally prosecuted is especially memorable given that norms within the United States, where the division of power is assumed, justice is supposed to be free from political agendas. More recently, Trump has accused Google of prescribing interest in what it terms ‘good stories’ regarding Harris and Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Trump has long boasted that he will sue the competition if he loses, including Presidents Biden and Hillary Clinton, from the 2016 race. This month, he promised to imprison those “engaged in misconduct” during this election, including election clerks, lawyers, consultants, financiers, and voters, again trying to cast aspersions about the election’s legitimacy.

Meanwhile, he also has multiple legal issues of his own. He was convicted in May for the hush money and fake business records in New York, and his sentencing is on December 26. Two more cases are at large — a federal one for his involvement in the January 6, 2021 insurrection and another state case in Georgia for his failed bid to subvert his 2020 election loss to Biden. It is a reminder of another episode that has set prosecutors appealing, another episode involving his mishandling of classified documents.

Donald Trump insisted that federal and state prosecutors acted against him politically, thus not providing any proof on that matter. If Trump becomes president again in the forthcoming election, he can pardon himself on the federal cases or direct the Justice Department to end their investigations against him.

“I just think the better course to take is to prosecute the case that her policies are destroying the country,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. “They’re crazy liberal.” When asked whether he approved of the personal attacks on Harris, Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minnesota, dodged the question during an interview on ABC’s “This Week.”

“I believe Kamala Harris is a bad choice for America,” Emmer said, who is assisting Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, in his preparations for Tuesday’s vice presidential debate. “Kamala Harris herself is even probably as evil or more evil than the administration we have seen over the last four years.”

Emmer said that the proverbial ‘talking heads’ remain quiet for once, but we should confine ourselves to the issues. The problem is Donald Trump, the person, managed to fix it once. They broke it. He’s going to fix it again. Those are the issues.”

Ex-Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, running for the Senate as a Republican, said that Trump has falsely accused Vice President Kamala Harris of pretending to be Black as she is the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants. During a rally in Erie, Trump averred that the invasion would cease immediately if he were to assume the presidency and deportation commence.

“Migrants numbering thousands from the most dangerous countries are assimilating the character of small towns and leaving behind communities in anguish and despair,” Trump said, referring to the communities in the battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Last month, during a speech, the GOP leader stated that he has the “right” to make personal attacks on Harris.

“Regarding the invective, I am particularly outraged at her because she has done this to the nation, ” he said at a news briefing. “And I’m furious at her that she would weaponise the justice system against me and other people, furious at her.” Theresa May said: “I think I’m entitled to personal attacks.”
