British PM Keir Starmer Says Britain supports Israel, and he is ‘deeply concerned’ the Middle East region ‘is on the brink’. Commenting on an attack involving around 200 missiles sent by Iran on Tuesday evening, the prime minister, who addressed the nation in a live broadcast from Downing Street, condemned the act.

Starmer,, who received a call from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the start of the attack, said that the rockets were aimed at civilians and that it is difficult to assess the full extent of the effects at the moment.

He then added: “I strongly condemn this act of aggression by the authorities in Tehran to harm innocent Israelis, to deepen this dangerous confrontation and lead the region closer to the abyss.”We are with Israel, and we acknowledge her right to defend herself from this act of terror.”

Sir Keir urged Iran to ‘stop these attacks, ’ alleging the Middle Eastern country has threatened the Region for too long. That is why I am highly concerned the region stands on the edge, and why I am highly concerned regarding the risk of miscalculation, he added.

Israel declared “there will be consequences” of the attack for which [Iran] said it struck back in response to the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon last week.

“But what I will say is that we are with Israel and this country’s right for an offshore wall.” And any relevant updates will be provided in due course.” Later, several hours after that statement, Mr Ben Wallace announced the participation of British forces tonight – it is still unknown whether they were involved in shooting down the Iranian missiles as the US forces did or in what other capacity.
