World Central Kitchen (WCK): Seven aid workers have been killed by the Israeli air strike

Australian  Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed on Tuesday that an Australian citizen was among the foreign aid workers killed in an Israeli raid in central Gaza on Monday evening. He added, “This is completely unacceptable. Australia expects full accountability (for those responsible for) the killing of aid workers.

The Prime Minister offered his “deep condolences” to the victim’s family, adding, “I did not have the honor of meeting her. Albanese stressed that the victim just wanted to extend a helping hand through the World Central Kitchen Charitable Foundation, and this says everything about the character of this young woman. 

According to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, four foreign relief workers from the World Central Kitchen charitable organization were killed along with their Palestinian driver in an Israeli strike that targeted their armored car in the central Gaza Strip on Monday evening. 

A spokesman for the Hamas government’s media office in the Gaza Strip said that among the dead were people from Poland, Australia, and a British citizen, adding that a Palestinian was also killed. 

Famous chef José Andrés, founder and president of the Washington-based non-governmental relief organization, previously announced in a post on the X Twitter platform that the organization “lost many of our sisters and brothers in an Israeli army airstrike in Gaza,” offering his condolences to “their families, friends, and the Central World Kitchen family.” In its entirety.“This is a tragedy,” José Andres added. 

Hamas said in a statement that the attack aimed to “terrorize” humanitarian workers and discourage them from continuing their duties.

The Israeli army said in a statement: “The Israeli army is making intense efforts to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and has been working closely with the Central World Kitchen organization in its vital efforts to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

The World Central Kitchen organization provides food aid and ready-made meals to those in need. The organization began working in 2010 when Chef José Andrés sent chefs and food to Haiti after an earthquake there. 

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Four foreign aid workers from the World Central Kitchen organization were killed along with their Palestinian driver in an Israeli strike that targeted their armored car in the central Gaza Strip on Monday evening.

For its part, the Government Information Office in Gaza said, “The martyrs are 4 foreigners, (three) holding British, Australian, and Polish nationalities, and the fourth’s nationality is not known, in addition to the driver, a Palestinian translator, named Saif Issam Abu Taha.

Our correspondent from the Gaza Strip, Saed Al-Suwayrki, reported that 5 bodies of foreigners working for international organizations were recovered after their car was targeted in the south of Deir Al-Balah, indicating that they belong to the “Global Central Kitchen” relief organization, which is working to prepare the floating port west of Gaza.
