Palestine & Israel Conflict

Spain and Slovenia agree on the necessity of recognizing a Palestinian state

As in Gaza, the Asrael war has started in the past seven months, in which almost 34,000 have been killed. By seeing this, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who is a former supporter of Palestinian rights, found a way to end the war that began in October.

The two prime ministers pointed out the importance of working to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza in light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Strip.

During a joint press conference with his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golub he explained that it is essential to consider the issue of recognizing Palestine and when the most appropriate moment will be.

Golub stressed that Slovenia will support the Palestinian state’s full membership in the UN Security Council. According to Sanchez, Spain agreed to take the first steps towards recognizing a Palestinian state in cooperation with other leaders from Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia.

Sanchez’s visit to Slovenia comes as part of efforts to gather European support for recognition of the Palestinian state. This shows the growing support within the European Union and countries worldwide to resolve the Palestinian issue and achieve peace in the region.

In response to the statements and initiative of the four member states of the European Union, Israel expressed its rejection of any step that undermines its position, noting that this initiative is equivalent to what it described as a “prize for terrorism.

Israel and Iran have been at war for years, and their intensity fluctuates due to geopolitical factors. Their cases are one of the leading causes of instability in the Middle East. Tehran calls Israel ‘Shaitan Kooch,’ meaning ‘little devil,’ because it is an ally of the US, while for it, the US is ‘Shaitan Sukhir,’ meaning the ‘big devil’.

The hostilities between these ‘old enemies’ have resulted in many casualties and often come as covert operations with no government claiming responsibility. Still, the war in Gaza has worsened the situation.

The Israeli government even played a mediating role in facilitating the covert program known as ‘Iran-Contra,’ through which the US used nuclear weapons in its war against neighboring Iraq between 1980 and 1988.

Arms were diverted to Iran. Israel has not been silent either and has carried out attacks and other operations against Iran and its allies, but often in third countries where it finances and supports armed groups fighting pro-Iranian forces.

It is worth noting that the Arab countries and the European Union agreed during a meeting in Spain last November that the two-state solution is the way to solve the Palestinian issue, as the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel represents a significant goal of international peace efforts that have faltered for a long time.
