Palestine & Israel Conflict

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro says Netanyahu will be remembered in history as a’ Genocide perpetrator’

Colombian President Gustavo Petro launched a straightforward attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that he was a “genocide perpetrator” amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Reacting forcefully to Netanyahu’s insinuation against Israel, Petro used X to condemn the actions of the Israeli Prime Minister. He stated, “Mr. Netanyahu, you will not live to see a kind legacy for slaughtering families pursuing the delicate liberty of flourishing in the land you took from them. Killing thousands of children, women, and the elderly by dropping bombs on them does not make you a hero.”

Petro compared the Israelis to the people who perpetrated the Holocaust and said, “You are staying on the same side with those wicked souls who extinguished millions of Jews in Europe. “The term “Genocide” has nothing to do with the individual’s religious beliefs, be it genocide. At least, try to put a stop to it, which is still going on.

Instead, Petro also highlights the point that the opposition to the Israeli government should not be mixed up with anti-Semitism. “Semitics for who has to blame for the genocide like themselves I mean, they suffer this genocide. ” He said. “Just like the genocide that the Nazi Europe committed against the Jewish people is not okay, the current genocide against the Palestinian people is also not OK.  I am a secular, republican, and an advocate for the ordinary people. “

Grounding on the message that he does not support Hamas, Petro argued noisily that Netanyahu’s doings constitute genocide and incorrigible barbarism. Another of the protest anthems was “Let Freedom Ring,” in which he highlighted the necessity of saving humanity.  He aptly expressed the thought, “If Gaza dies, humanity dies. “

Colombia cut diplomatic ties with Israel about a week ago because of the constant Israeli aggressions against Palestine in the Gaza Strip. The conflict turned into a full-blown war after a Hamas attack on 7th October, which led to the death of 1,200 people. The Israeli government reprisals during the invasion have resulted in approximately 35,000 casualties among the Palestinians.

In January, the International Court of Justice viewed it as”plausible” that Israel committed Acts of Genocide were done according to the 1948 Genocide Convention. In an interim order, the court directed Israel to make sure that its forces do not commit any acts that are prohibited by the convention and human rights. The case raised by South Africa is, at the moment, brought before The Hague court in the Netherlands.
