Palestine & Israel Conflict

None of the Aid by the US meant for the Palestinian population reached them, The Pentagon

In attempts to send humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip, the United States ran into problems with none of the supplies, which were unloaded from a temporary pier, getting to the Palestinian population. The US is operating with the United Nations and Israel to pinpoint the safe channels of delivering assistance in the enclave, stated Maj—Gen—Pat Ryder of the Pentagon on Tuesday.

The delivery organisers, the United Nations, were forced to halt operations until issues affecting the questionable process were addressed after several Gazans desperately intercepted some aid trucks over the weekend. Washington has been trying to create “other channels” to deliver the 569 tons of supplies transferred to Gaza in the past week.

When Ryder was asked when any assistance had arrived for the people of Gaza, he replied, “I do not think it has, at least not up to this date. ” He explained that although previously the aid was compounded in an assembly area offshore, new SharePoint resources are now being transferred to distribution warehouses as other routes are created.

According to an official from the US that was informed to CNN, both the Defense Department and UN are stillelan considering the capability of the staging area in Gaza. The amount of assistance that Gaza has received from Cyprus has yet to reach the Pentagon’s speculated figures. Over the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) pier, 569 metric tons of aid have been delivered since last Friday for about the planned 500 tons a day that JLOTS aims to improve.

It was expected that Adm. Brad Cooper, the US Naval Forces Central Command commander, would introduce high objectives, but the execution process has been slowed. At the weekend, some Gazans stopped aid lorries to claim that they did not trust the purpose of aid deliveries. Another Gaza resident, Mounir Ayad, expressed doubts, referring to the US. He explained it simply: they never supported the Palestinian cause anyway.

Ryder accepted the interception of the assistance because although she gathered the necessity of the aid, the focus had to be on the rightful recipients. The Pentagon expected to bring 500 tons of aid daily to Gaza and planned to increase this to 150 trucks daily. The activities carried out on the pier, which was anchored last week, faced some challenges, such as preparing the operations done by Israelis, organising transportation means, and dealing with harsh and unfavourable weather.

Ryder said that attempts to bring supplies via groundways are being carried out. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is negotiating with his Israeli counterpart. The topics mentioned covered the arrangement of providing help through the Israeli port of Ashdod to prevent the supplies from scanning in Egypt passing through Cyprus.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan talked with Israeli interlocutors about attacks on Rafah, stressing the problem of safely delivering aid. Hamas’ opponents seek to eliminate the group while ensuring aid deliveries.

On Tuesday, 370 pallets of aid were provided and distributed in Gaza. The US, together with the Royal Jordanian Air Force, has also engaged in humanitarian airdrops, but the future tempo is unclear. The author underlined the cooperative effort by many agencies and international partners in dealing with the dire situation of the Palestinian people, as reportedly pointed out by Ryder.

“We have seen the situation in Palestine right now,” Ryder said. “And we are going to ensure we get them what they need. ”
