Trump defends JD Vance’s ‘childless cat ladies’ comment on Kamala Harris

Presidential candidate Donald Trump has defended JD Vance’s comments about “childless cat ladies” before accusations and opinions that his support affected the senator. Vance joined Trump’s ticket early this month, and his 2021 criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats as “miserable at their own lives” due to being “childless cat ladies” resurfaced.

Speaking with Fox News that was aired on Monday, Trump dismissed Vance’s statements as personal opinions and not as sexism. “He has a unique upbringing in terms of family, and he likes family, and I don’t think there is anything wrong about that,” the U. S. President added. He also commented that he did not think people without family are somehow less valuable. “Know what, you don’t get someone, or you don’t get anyone. But you end up being just as good if not better off, or in many cases, much better off than the so-and-so stuck in a family,” Trump retorted.

Vance, who was raised mostly by his grandmother in Ohio, has drawn criticism for the comments, which some political scientists say could cost him votes in a very close election. Kamala Harris, who became a stepmother to two children of her husband Doug Emhoff, has not responded directly to Vance’s words.

Trump also spoke on the recent attempt on his life during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The FBI is closely examining the shooting more related to 20-year-old Thomas Crooks, who was shot dead by a Secret Service agent after the shooting. Trump announced he was ready to interview with the FBI within the week.

FBI officials provided details to show that the police considered Crooks as a potential threat and had marked him as such more than an hour before the shooting incident. Kevin Rojek, a Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office, said they took a photo of Crooks and later passed it to fellow officers at the rally. Crooks was seen after that with a backpack, which he was wearing a few minutes earlier before the shooting incident, and was filmed on a police dashboard nipping on the roof, which he used in firing.

Rojek said that the FBI is indeed constructing a chronology of events but has not identified the reason why Crooks was driven to kill his family members. Incidentally to the event, the shooter had conducted preliminary research looking for information concerning mass shootings, improvised explosive devices, and an attempted assassination of the Slovakian PM in May.

After the shooting incident, the president of the USA, Donald Trump, said that he would continue hosting outside crusaders even with the Secret Service’s reluctance. Regarding the next duel with Kamala Harris, which will take place on September 10 against Joe Biden, Trump suggested that he might not appear. “I may very well end up debating,” Trump replied, but continued, “But I can also make a case for not doing it. ”

In the meantime, the Trump campaign must manage the issues related to Vance’s comments and the recent security breach to determine how these factors influence the voters’ standpoint and potential strategies.
