Palestine & Israel Conflict

86% of Besieged Gaza Strip is now under Israeli Evacuation Orders, UN

According to the United Nations, 86% of the Gaza Strip has been cleared of Palestinians by Israel, and more Palestinians were killed and displaced with no relief from attacks; 33 died in a day.

On Monday, new evacuation orders that were issued by the Israeli army compelled thousands of Palestinians to evacuate the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip.

“We have been displaced from the north. They told us, ‘Move to central Gaza, then to Rafah. ‘We headed to Rafah, then moved back to Nusairat, and got stranded. Next, we were ordered to move deeper south towards al-Mawasi. ’ Interview with a displaced Palestinian Mohammed Naserullah Al Jazeera The protagonist, Larry, and his wife bear these losses, and a quote he speaks throughout the movie is, ‘Our life is in pieces. ’ In the end, Larry says, ‘We have nothing, no one but God. ’

The head of the UNRWA warned that 86 % of the Gaza Strip is under the alert which was being issued by the Israeli army.

Kahder Baroud of Nuseirat said he was called by the Israeli army to vacate his home on Sunday, as reported by Baroud. For Baroud, who is blind, it was hard to escape the attack unscathed. “Currently, we are barely managing our circumstances since my daughters and sons are also blind. … We are living in fear under scary conditions. We left home this Monday morning but are wondering which place to go. ”

‘The big majority of the displaced are going to Deir el-Balah city, where many displaced families are living, while the city itself cannot provide adequate space, let alone resources, for people,’ the Al Jazeera reporter said.

Schools that have been converted to refugee hostels have also been invaded. The recent attacks on schools in the past two days have erased whatever little hope that people staying in evacuation centers have and forced people into even deeper internal displacement.

. “There is no one safe in this crisis-plagued Gaza,” Mahmoud said.

Some days ago, the Israeli army invaded southern Gaza, killing at least three people and others injured when it shelled the al-Mawasi area, which it had once declared a safe zone.

Gaza authorities said 33 Palestinians were killed throughout the coastal strip on Monday, which, on balance, has claimed 39,363 Palestinians’ lives since October, in addition to wounding more than 90,000 others. On the same day, 7 October, in Israel, about 1139 people died in the Hands attacks, and more than 200 were kidnapped.

Due to the ongoing hostility by Israel, the Gaza Strip is facing a severe health crisis; the Ministry of Health has rated the region as a ‘polio-endemic area. ’ Further, the WHO has affirmed the presence of the polio virus in sewage samples, proving to be a major health concern to the people of the Gaza region and other neighboring states. Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, giving her insight from Deir el-Balah, noted Palestinians were sheltering under makeshift tents and lacked proper hygiene facilities, meaning a high risk of contagion.

On Friday, the WHO said that it was to dispatch just over one million polio vaccines to Gaza and that children in the area would be targeted in the next few weeks. Israel’s military also said it would begin administering the polio vaccine to soldiers in Gaza.

Israel and Hamas are still accusing each other of not achieving the ceasefire and hostage release deal, as there are international mediators for the same. Hamas said that Netanyahu of Israel altered the terms of a ceasefire offer in the latest peace plan that the US supports, a claim that he rejected, and said that Hamas wanted changes on many aspects of the plan.

It is still very precarious, with the conditions in Gaza getting worse each passing day and displaced families continuing to look for shelter and food.
