UK Govt announces £29.4m package to safeguard mosques from violence.

The UK Home Secretary,  Yvette Cooper, announced a significant funding package of £29.4 (approximately $37. 65 million) on Sunday to increase protection for mosques in view of previous acts of violence against places of worship in the recent disturbance in England and Northern Ireland.

Increased attacks and threats against these faith-based facilities have prompted this action. Additionally, the government has worked on the rapid response process so that any mosque that has violent threats can quickly get extra security. This mission is to provide help, support, and confidence to these areas in addition to the existing local policing supplied for the protection of these worship places.

The new process facilitates quick engagement of police, local authorities, and mosques in a bid to implement security measures as soon as possible. Considering the disgusting threats and attacks local mosques have received in many areas, Cooper noted that the government is moving swiftly to deliver extra funding through the newly formed Mosques Protective Security Programme.

She emphasised that this support would complement the efforts of local police forces and reiterated the government’s firm stance against disorder and violence: He said that anyone who contributes to disorder and violence will be brought to book and will face the law.

Protests come after the brutal murder of three girls in Southport on Monday and have been accompanied by deteriorating relations between communities and continued disorder in towns as well as cities all across England.

The Home Secretary-designate Diana Johnson has thrown light on the ways by which certain criminals troubling people can be brought to book soon, and the courts could be opened all through the day and night for the cause. Police have also increased beefing up of security and use of extra force to deal with this violence, according to Johnson.

The funding and the rapid response measures introduced by the government are related to similar measures within the framework to protect all the communities in Great Britain, especially those that have recently been affected by any acts of violence and threats. Thus, by increasing the level of protection and offering assistance, the government intends to ensure the non-violent protection of worshipers and respect for the ideas of peace and tolerance throughout the country.

This is considered a practical move in countering short-term problems such as mosque security while simultaneously focusing on achieving society’s goals. The government thus ensures that it collaborates with the local leaders in a bid to reinforce cooperation so that each person in that country feels protected and wanted.

He said that people need to be united at such times of crisis and reject the division brought by hatred among communities. “We should not allow the instances of violence to set the pace and separate us, for that would be the end of respecting the other and embracing our differences as a nation,” she said. The presented measures should be considered to be a part of the vast strategy for the country’s protection against the threats now and in the future, which will also stress the UK’s commitment to the faster accomplishment of the goals set by the Charter in terms of human rights and liberties for everyone.
