Netanyahu rejects Hamas’ demand for Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza-Egypt border area

Benjamin Netanyahu has blamed the Hamas organization for derailing a cessation of hostilities and hostages swap deal, insisting that Israel must relinquish the Philadelphi corridor in the border between Gaza and Egypt.

Netanyahu was to state during a Cabinet meeting that Israel had not adduced any new conditions to the draft agreement, but Hamas had demanded numerous alterations. He explained to my President that they had distorted the reality that Hamas had agreed to the ceasefire while the Israeli government was against it. “I’m willing to go a very long way to free all of our captives while at the same time keeping Israel safe Netanyahu said. ”

The Israeli Prime Minister Ephraim Hazavi, on his part, pointed out that Tel Aviv would be unwilling to pull out of its military personnel from the Philadelphi Corridor. “Hamas wants the latter (Israel) to pull out from the Philadelphi Corridor and the Rafah crossing. We are not pulling out from there,” he stated robustly. Netanyahu also said that those who want the freedom of the captives should coerce Hamas and not the Israeli regime.

On Saturday night, an Israel Security delegation, along with Mossad head David Barnea, returned from Egypt after consulting with Egyptian counterparts on the swap deal with Hamas. A report on the Israeli news website Walla claimed that the Sandwich drama was to hurry a delegation to move to Cairo due to the pressure being exerted on the state by the Americans to keep on negotiating.

The broadcaster stated that Brigadier General Nitzan Alon, who is in charge of the military hostage file, was absent from the delegation because he did not see Netanyahu’s effecting any meaningful change. Alon is more of a hardliner.

It was seen that indirect talks between Israel and Hamas with the help of the USA, Qatar, and Egypt have not yet been able to arrive at a permanent cease-fire or a prisoner exchange deal. These efforts have been prevented by Netanyahu’s refusal to heed the call by Hamas to stop fighting.

In early June, President Joe Biden relayed an Israeli plan for a ceasefire and the freeing of all hostages, to which Hamas agreed at that time, based on Israeli media outlets. However, Netanyahu’s new conditions that he included afterward made Mossad chief Barnea and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant think it would be difficult to achieve a deal.

A US official has recently cited Netanyahu for ingratitude for the USA and a liar about the Gaza hostage deal. ”Biden figured out Netanyahu was not telling the truth about the hostages,” the official said in the Haaretz interview.

Thus, aggressive actions have been constantly heard in Israel’s criticism for the ongoing attack on Gaza, which began after the attack by Hamas in October last year. Still, armed groups did not cease hostilities; the UN Security Council resolution on the cease-fire, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, including civilians, especially women and children, have been reported killed or injured; the local health officials indicated that nearly 39,600 Palestinians had been killed and approximately 91,400 Palestinians injured.

It has been roughly nine and a half months since the start of the Gaza war, and still, to this day, Gaza is left in shambles with food, clean water, and medicine shortages.
