All Gazans will suffer from famine by May, UN report reveals

The IPC, which monitors the situation of hunger around the world, has revealed in its report that all the citizens of the occupied Palestinian territory of Gaza will suffer from famine by May.

According to the IPC, more than half of the population of Gaza is suffering from starvation. UN chief Antonio Guterres has described the report on the threat of famine in Gaza as a dangerous indictment.

Antonio Gutierrez said that the famine situation in Gaza is entirely a man-made tragedy, the growing threat of famine in Gaza can be prevented, Israel should make possible the delivery of relief goods throughout Gaza.

The UN-backed IPC report states that two of the three famine indicators are overall food shortages and malnutrition, which are seen in Gaza.

The report said that Palestinians in Gaza are facing the worst hunger. More than 1.1 million people in Gaza are facing severe food shortages, with the risk of famine increasing in northern Gaza and other areas between mid-March and May.

In this regard, the Secretary General of the United Nations said that the report on the threat of famine in Gaza is a dangerous indictment.

Israel is using famine, hunger as a weapon in Gaza, Joseph Borrell

EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell has accused Israel of creating famine in Gaza and using hunger as a weapon of war.

According to the foreign news agency “Reuters” news, Joseph Borrell said at the opening of a conference on humanitarian aid for Gaza in Brussels that “we are not on the brink of famine in Gaza, but we are in a state of famine.” There are thousands of people suffering from famine.

“This is unacceptable, famine is being used as a weapon of war and Israeli war is causing famine,” he added.

On the other hand, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned about the situation in Gaza and said that there is a famine, which requires an immediate ceasefire.
