French writer Alain Gresh: These are the reasons for the decline of the positionof intellectuals regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza

French journalist and writer Alain Gresh believes that “the international community, especially the Western world, is doing nothing to stop this tragedy taking place in Gaza,” criticizing “the Western world that claims to defend democracy, human rights, and self-determination, but is now proving that it is a hypocritical world that presents a series of lies.”

Gresh is a veteran French journalist and expert in Middle East affairs. He was born in Cairo in 1948 to an Egyptian Jewish family of European origins. His father, Henri Corel, was one of the founders of the Egyptian Communist Party. This upbringing had an impact on his intellectual and political formation, as he was dominated by a leftist orientation and his interest in the problems of the Middle East and the world.
