“Horrific Scenes” at Gaza Hospital with Blood Everywhere After Israeli Strike, UNRWA

The United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, while writing about the situation in the mournful funeral in southern Gaza, said that it was horrific scenes in the hospital after an Israeli attack on the ‘humanitarian zone’ for the displaced Palestinians, said Anadolu news agency on Sunday.

The attack that took place on Saturday hit the part of the Al-Mawasi area located in Khan Yunis, thereby killing at least 90 individuals and leaving at least 297 persons injured. The Israeli military said the strike was on Mohamed Deif, the commander of the Hamas armed wing’s Qassam Brigades, and his identical twin.

Deputy Humanitarian Coordination in the Gaza Strip and Director of UNRWA, Scott Anderson, touring the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, spoke of the existing conditions. “Some of the worst things I have seen having been in Gaza for nine months,” Anderson said. He described few beds, hygiene equipment, sheeting, and scrubs, which made many patients treated on the grounds without disinfectants. The air movement in the hospital was off because of an insufficient supply of electricity and fuel, which made the air stagnate with the stench of blood.

”They had children, toddlers, who were double amputees, children paralysed and with no hope of medical attention, and children that have been separated from their parents,” Anderson said. Also, families and relatives walked the streets, and I met mothers and fathers who no longer knew if their children were alive or not. I spoke to parents who, in complete hopelessness, told me that they had relocated to the ‘so-called humanitarian zone’ under the belief that their children would be safe inside of it.

Alone, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees, in the course of narrating the events in the sorrowful burial in southern Gaza, stated that it was a horrible sight in the hospital following an Israeli air strike in the ‘safe zone’ for the Palestinian displaced, as Anadolu news agency reported on Sunday.

The attack that occurred on Saturday was launched at the portion of the Al-Mawasi region situated in Khan Yunis as well, which ensured a death toll of at least 90 and a minimum of 297 individuals sustained injuries. Israel’s defence force stated that it targeted Mohamed Deif, the commander of the Hamas armed wing’s Qassam Brigades, and his look-alike brother.

Speaking about the existing work conditions, the deputy Humanitarian Coordination in the Gaza Strip and director of UNRWA Scott Anderson said while visiting the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis. Fellow Anderson recalled, “Some of the worst things I have seen for having been in Gaza for nine months. ” He spoke of few beds, hygiene equipment, sheeting, and scrubs; many patients were referred to grounds for treatment without disinfectant. The air circulation inside the hospital was affected due to inadequate supplies of electricity and fuel, which made the air stagnant with the smell of blood.

”They had children, toddlers more specifically, who were double amputees, children paralysed, and with no access to medical help whatsoever, and children displaced from their families,” Anderson said. Again, families and relatives of abducted persons were moving around the streets. I interacted with mothers and fathers who didn’t know whether their children were alive or not: I was talking to parents who hopelessly said to me they had relocated to the so-called ‘humanitarian’ zone because they believed their children would be safe there.
