Palestine & Israel Conflict

Israel deploys military brigades in the West Bank for re-occupation, say’s Palestine Foreign Ministry

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday that Israel’s deployment of 23 military battalions in the West Bank constitutes its reoccupation by force.

It indicated in a statement that Israel has deployed more than 750 military checkpoints throughout the length and breadth of the West Bank, “in addition to thousands of battalions and police teams sweeping the city of Jerusalem.”

She also added, “The Israeli government is trying, with these large numbers of its army, to establish military security logic by dealing with the issue of our people, their rights, and their existence as an alternative to negotiated political solutions to the conflict.”

While the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, called for activating the international protection system for the Palestinian people.

These statements come after the Israeli channel “i24 News” reported yesterday the deployment of 23 Israeli army battalions across the West Bank on the eve of the first day of the month of Ramadan.

Assault on worshipers

In addition, yesterday evening, the Israeli police prevented hundreds of Palestinian worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, and beat a number of them.

Eyewitnesses said that large forces of Israeli police prevented the entry of hundreds of worshipers who tried to cross through several doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and only allowed those over the age of 40
and women.

They also added that the Israeli forces attacked the worshipers and prevented them from entering the Majlis Gate, one of the gates of Al-Aqsa, according to Anadolu Agency.

It is noteworthy that an atmosphere of escalating tension prevails in the West Bank and Jerusalem against the backdrop of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, where more than 31,000 Palestinians have been killed since the seventh of last October.

A security source in Hamas threatened that the movement would strike with an iron fist anyone who “tampers with the internal front in the Gaza Strip and will not allow the imposition of new rules,” according to what was reported by the Hamas-affiliated Al-Majd Security website.

This warning came after Israeli media reports that Israel is considering arming some individuals or tribes in Gaza to provide security protection for aid convoys as part of broader planning for the introduction of humanitarian relief after the end of the fighting.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office refused to comment on the report, which came a week after the killing of dozens of Palestinians in a crowding incident around a convoy of aid trucks that was entering northern Gaza, and the subsequent forces opened fire on the crowds.

Israel, which agreed to America building a temporary floating dock off the besieged Gaza Strip for months, with the aim of providing relief to millions of Palestinians who are close to the brink of hunger, is betting that delivering aid directly to the population “will contribute to the collapse of Hamas’ rule,” according to what Israeli Defense Minister Yoav announced yesterday.
