Palestine & Israel Conflict

Israeli Bombing Displaces Another 190,000 in Gaza, UN Reports

An Israeli evacuation order has displaced at least 190,000 people in the cities of the Gaza Strip this week, a UN official said on Friday.

“Our humanitarian partners estimate that more than 190,000 Palestinians have been displaced this week in Khan Younis and Deir al Balah since Monday’s evacuation order,” UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters.

Else, hundreds of others are still trapped in eastern Khan Younis while fighting is going on, said Haq.

“Fast forward the situation has worsened with recent evacuation orders cutting and sharp fighting causing the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says aid is in a precarious state with reducing chances of delivering critical and urgent aid to the civilian population of Khan Younis,” Haq elaborated.

As for this week, 12 out of 25 distribution points to provide food and 8 out of 10 points to provide cooked meals had to suspend their work. Also, the education services of two shelters and more than 2,800 children and pregnant women’s nutrition programs were affected.

According to OCHA, Haq pointed out that insecurity and a single point of entry/exit to Gaza—the Kerem Shalom crossing for international staff and humanitarians to /from Gaza—have prevented more emergency medical teams from being deployed.

Haq stated, ‘These workers are critically needed to support the exhausted local health force, Haq said none of the hospital in Gaza is functioning fully.’

Israel responders, which actively violated a UN Security Council resolution, calling for an immediate stop to the fighting since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack.

The local health organizations estimate that 39,199 Palestinians were killed, mainly women and children, and more than 90,462 injured.

Nine months into the urging fighting by Israel, much of the territory of Gaza looks like a warzone, with most of the area’s infrastructure destroyed and a blockade on food, clean water, and medicine continuing still. The humanitarian situation is still appalling; hostilities and limited access points hamper primary intervention measures.

Due to the progression of the humanitarian crisis in this area, there are appeals for intervention by the international community. Currently, the situation is deemed barely livable by the aid agencies due to shortages of the basic needs provisions that deepen the suffering of the displaced population. Severe depletion of water and sanitation facilities makes these systems barely functional. Thus, it expands the population to easily diseases that and diseases.his blockade, the transport of sufficient food, medicine, and other necessary products has become almost unimaginable. The continuous attack and blockade that the Yemeni civilians and refugee camps experience defy the voices of the international community to cease fire, which raises International Humanitarian Calls to Action for civilians’ protection and to respond to the suffering resulting from the crises.
