Israel’s war on Gaza updates: 23 killed in airstrikes on food-aid workers

The Israeli military killed an NGO worker and wounded another in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian officials in the besieged territory; the pair were in a United Nations vehicle displaying the UN flag when they were targeted.

The Palestinian government said both people hit in the Gaza attack were foreigners. According to a social media report, the person killed was a Palestinian driver, and the wounded worker was a foreigner.

We strongly criticize the ongoing brutalities perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the people of Gaza and foreign aid workers by the government in Gaza.

Israeli officials said they knew that one person was killed and another wounded in the incident, and they declared they were investigating the killings.

At least 216 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since October, and the majority were Palestinians killed by Israeli aerial bombardment, according to the Aid Worker Security Database.

Israeli’s April drone strikes killed seven foreign aid workers from the World Central Kitchen after they brought a new shipment of food into the affected area. This attack shows the flawed humanitarian notification system in Gaza. According to Middle East researchers, at least three hundred and fifty-seven humanitarian-run sites in Gaza before the World Central Kitchen hit them.

Most of the times when humanitarian sites were hit, -352 -were to locations run by Unrwa, the biggest aid group in Gaza. The hitting centers were mostly food centers, schools, and living places of thousands of civilians.

On the 179th day of the war on Gaza and the 23rd of the holy month of Ramadan, Israel continued its air strikes on several areas, leaving dozens of martyrs and many wounded.

Fierce battles took place across the Gaza Strip between the resistance and the occupation army, and Al-Qassam announced the targeting of an occupation military bulldozer east of Deir al-Balah. At the same time, the Al-Quds Brigades bombed a gathering of soldiers and vehicles southwest of Gaza City.

On the other hand, the occupation army announced that a soldier from the commando unit was seriously injured in battles in the southern Gaza Strip yesterday.

Several countries called for a quick and transparent investigation into the killing of the relief team.

At the same time, the pace of anti-Netanyahu protests escalated, as thousands of demonstrators surrounded the Knesset for the third day to demand the dismissal of the government and the conclusion of a deal to return the prisoners.
