Protesters boycott Biden in the presence of Obama and Clinton

US President Joe Biden, along with Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, attended a fundraising event, and the two former presidents strongly defended the White House policy in dealing with the Gaza war when demonstrators boycotted the event, according to Reuters.

Biden, who arrived with Obama on Air Force One yesterday afternoon (Thursday), and Clinton, participated in a discussion moderated by “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert at the famous “Radio City Music Hall” in New York in front of thousands of attendees

But the event was punctuated by protests inside the huge hall, as some stood up at different moments and shouted criticizing Biden’s support for Israel in the Gaza war that claimed the lives of more than 30,000 Palestinians.

Obama and Clinton presented their point of view regarding the Gaza crisis, in terms of their being former presidents, and confirmed the political realities of their presence in the White House before.

They said the president must be able to support Israel while pushing for the Palestinians to have more food, medical supplies and a future state.

“It’s a lonely seat,” Obama said. One of the truths of the presidency is that the world has a lot of joy and beauty, but it also has a lot of tragedy and cruelty.”

Before the event, the three leaders’ motorcade passed hundreds of protesters rejecting Israel’s war in Gaza, another indication that some young voters and other progressives who voted for Biden in 2020 are angry about his strong support for Israel in its military campaign.

Recent opinion polls conducted by Reuters-Ipsos show that his support rate is 40 percent in a close race with Donald Trump (77 years old) before the elections scheduled for November 5.
