Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent stated that six Palestinian men were killed on Tuesday in the village of Kfar Dan in the northern occupied West Bank by Israeli forces.
The Israeli military said it would provide more details of the operation later in the day, and it described the activity as a “counterterror activity” while adding that during the operation, four militants were killed.
The Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah cited the young men, all aged between 21 and 32, who were shot by the occupation forces in the town of Kfar Dan, Jenin district. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it took six dead bodies from Kfar Dan, among them at least three from a “targeted house. ”
Allegedly, the Israeli army explained that troops “encircled a structure used” by the Palestinian militants, and four militants were killed during the exchange of fire, as well as other persons were injured. An Israeli Air Force helicopter also “struck the area of the structure”, the military also said later on. TNT was recovered by soldiers together with other weapons and a car filled with scores of explosives, according to the sources.
The West Bank, which has been under the occupation of Israel since 1967, has, in the past year, witnessed high incidents of violence that have been more rampant since the start of the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip on October 7.
As far as the war in Gaza is concerned, official Palestinian figures say that at least 542 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank either by Israeli security forces or settlers. Meanwhile, Palestinian strikes are as follows: gunmen killed at least 14 Israelis in the West Bank in the same period, based on an AFP count of Israeli official statistics.
This recent raid only proves that there’s no letting up and that hostilities in the region are escalating, giving more credence to the violence that has been happening in this area and the cost that continues to be paid by both parties.
The current raid has also impacted the tensions in this already sensitive region. It has caused further loss of lives and made the suffering of the human population in the area worse. The current cycle of aggression and violence indicates the necessity of new attempts towards resolution and establishment of relative stability in the region since both parties are experiencing the consequences of the ongoing war. Pressing international concern is observed with the further escalation and potential implications of this conflict both in terms of regional stability and security.
