The White House canceled the Iftar dinner event after a boycott by American Muslim leaders

The White House canceled Tuesday night’s iftar dinner after American Muslim leaders announced a boycott.

According to a Qatari broadcaster, White House sources on condition of anonymity said that the White House has canceled the event after Muslim leaders boycotted the Iftar dinner.

Edward Ahmed Mitchell, deputy director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the event was canceled because a large number of people decided not to attend, including those who had initially agreed to attend.

They said that it would not be possible for us to break out fast with the white house, which is the Muslim American community, because these are the countries who are supporting the government of Israel to take action against Palestinian people in Gaza.

Critics have warned that anger among Muslim leaders could potentially threaten Biden’s electoral prospects in November’s presidential election.

Invitations for Iftar Dinner:

It should be remembered that according to the report of the American broadcaster the White House issued invitations to American Muslim leaders for the Iftar dinner for the Muslim community.

Amage, a Florida-based Muslim advocacy group, said it and other Muslim-American representatives had received invitations to meet with the president, vice president, and senior members of the team, but had decided not to attend.

Robert McCaw, director of the government affairs department at the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told Dawn that several American Muslim organizations are organizing iftar dinners around the White House to protest the policies of the Biden administration.

Muslim leaders are expected to meet Joe Biden:

The report stated that only a few Muslim leaders will meet with Joe Biden after Muslim leaders boycotted the Iftar dinner.

White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden and his Vice President, Kamala Harris, will meet with Muslim community leaders on Tuesday.

When asked why the Muslim community did not attend the Iftar, Jean-Pierre said that the Muslim community had requested a meeting instead of an Iftar dinner.

Many Muslim American activists expressed skepticism that another pointless meeting would be just for photos, a position the Muslim community has already made clear over the past six months.

He stressed that if Biden cares about the Muslim American community, he should address their concerns without continuing to support Israel.

It should be noted that last year the White House chose not to host an iftar dinner but welcomed around 350 guests for the Eid reception. This year, Ramadan coincides with the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which has resulted in more than 30,000 reported deaths in the past six months.

Last year, the White House did not host an Iftar dinner but invited about 350 guests for the Eid reception, but this year’s Ramadan comes amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

It should be remembered that at least 32,916 Palestinians have been martyred and 75,494 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, while the number of dead in Israel is 1,139 in the October 7 attack by Hamas.
