Trial to make WhatsApp’s ‘Chatlocks’ secure on all devices

The instant messaging application has started testing the ‘Chat Locks’ feature to secure it on all devices. WhatsApp introduced the ‘ChatLocks’ feature in May 2023, whereby users keep their specific chats private.

Under the said feature, users have also been given access to open or close their secret chats through a secret code. But now WhatsApp has started testing the feature to secure the ‘Chat Locks’ feature on all devices.

So far the ‘Chat Locks’ feature only works on the main device i.e. mobile, but if a user opens their WhatsApp on a desktop or laptop, their chats are not encrypted.

According to the website that monitors the update of WhatsApp, under the mentioned feature, users will be able to lock chats on all their devices, including mobiles. But now WhatsApp has started testing the feature to secure the ‘Chat Locks’ feature on all devices.

That means all the chats of the user will be locked on the other devices and the secret code will have to be given on the link devices to access the secret chats. It is believed that after testing the feature for a few months, it will be rolled out to all users.

WhatsApp is testing a new feature in the beta version of Android devices by removing this error according to the report of Wabetainfo.

To secure the privacy of users when chat is locked in the main device it will also stay locked in all other linked devices. Under this feature by implementing chat lock on all other devices users will be able to protect useful and sensitive chats from others even in the cases when they are not using their devices.

A secret code is required to open the list of lock chats, which will also protect the security of all devices. As mentioned above this feature is still being tested in the beta version so it is hard to say when it can be rolled out to all users.

In conclusion, the initiative to make WattsApp’s Chat Lock more secure and private on all devices is a positive step in addressing growing concerns over data privacy and digital security.

By adding this type of stronger encryption WhatsApp wants to make sure no one can access our chats without permission not only on technological advancements but also on user adoption and adherence to security best practices.

Nevertheless, to work well there is a need for all of us to be careful so that we protect ourselves from falling for tricks or scams that could still put our information and privacy at risk. To protect our privacy online companies, and experts must keep an eye on our privacy policies by working together.

In short, the security of Whatsapp shows that it can make the world of the internet a safer place for everyone. Improving WhatsApp security is crucial for safeguarding our private chats on all devices online, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for user success.
