US Official: Biden realised Netanyahu lied about Captive deal

A top US official has denounced the Israeli premier, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu, as the most “ungrateful” leader that America has supported and has further alleged that the latter had told a lie on a hostage deal in Gaza. Speaking to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the official complained about Netanyahu’s indifference to the significant amounts of money that the USA provided in the past ten months of the Gaza war.

The official narrated a situation in which Biden, the president of the United States, called Netanyahu, forcing him to explain the issue with the hostages. ”Biden felt Netanyahu was deceiving him about the hostages,” the official said. >He has not been saying it publicly yet, but in their meeting, the two had the following exchange:‘’ Stop bullish—ing me,’’ he told him.

There was animosity between the two leaders during their recent interactions. Netanyahu, who recently visited the U.S. to rally support for his campaigns in the Gaza war, had a phone conversation with Biden on Thursday. The discussions were said to have been characterised by the use of such words as “difficult” and “tense.”

In a blunt comment, the U. S. official accused Netanyahu of prolonging the war instead of striving for a hostage swap, which, according to the official, further hampers the continued U. S. support for Israel. On Friday, a member of the Israeli negotiating delegation told Haaretz magazine that the top commanders of the Israeli defence force do not regard Netanyahu as earnest in his aim to strike a hostage exchange deal with Hamas.

Attempts to negotiate a deal between Israel and Hamas with the help of the United States, Qutar, and Egypt have yet to produce any result. Due to Netanyahu’s failure to cease fire as demanded by Hamas for the respective talks to take place, the negotiation meant for the determination of a permanent ceasefire, a swap of prisoners has been marred in some way. The U. S. official said the new Israeli demands have caused anxiety in the negotiations, although security tools can accommodate an agreement that does not include some of these demands.

The UN Security Council has called for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. Still, Israel does not seem to care as it continues its attack against Gaza civilians – all these have earned it negative comments from the global community. Since the conflict started with an attack from Hamas in October, nearly sixty thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed while the local health authorities have wounded ninety-one thousand, four hundred fifty.

Gaza has experienced extensive destruction throughout the war that has been going on for ten months, while the blockade that cut the residents off from food, clean water, and medicine only magnified the results. The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocide and called for an immediate cease-fire in Rafah, which more than one million Palestinians had sought accordingly before the city was invaded in May.

Netanyahu’s management of the conflict, together with the constant aggression, has therefore posed a test to the erstwhile close relationship between the United States of America and Israel.
