Palestine & Israel Conflict

World leaders Denounce the attack of Israel on the pronounced ‘Safe Zone’ in Rafah

Many international leaders have called for their shock over Israel’s recent air strike on a camp where the displaced Palestinians reside in Rafah in the southern part of Gaza, which led to the loss of many civilian lives.

The assault in the Tel al-Sultan area of western Rafah has left at least 45 people dead, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported. Israel agreed this part of the area as a “safe zone” for thousands of Palestinians who fled their homes after Israel attacked Rafah two weeks ago.

President Emmanuel Macron of France condemned X, expressing his worry over aggrieved displaced persons killed by the Israeli forces at Rafah. In a disturbing tone, Macron said, “Outraged by the Israeli strikes that have killed many displaced persons in Rafah. These operations must stop. There are no safe areas in Rafah for Palestinian civilians. ” He urged for a ceasefire.

The EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell remarked the same sentiments and further stated how horrified he was by the attack. “I categorically denounce this; there is no sanctity in Gaza now, “he continued to call for the cessation of the Israeli attack and respect the standing order of the ICJ on the raid on Rafah.

In the United Kingdom, the head of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer, preparing for the early July elections, promised to be engaged in a ceasefire if the intended as prime minister. “Those scenes, those reports are horrifying. This was a safe zone, women and children, their families who already risked it so many times,” he said. Terms such as these Starmer used in conjunction with the casualties to explain they resulted from the military operations that leaders of the world had cautioned against.

Even the opposition leader, the left-wing politician Jeremy Corbyn, opposed the strike, referring to it as a monstrous failure of humanity.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the operation, which they said was barbaric, and claimed that the killings had nothing to do with humanity.

” At the beginning of this month, Turkey removed all kinds of relations with Israel, including a free trade agreement, for the sake of the people of Gaza.

Egypt’s foreign ministry described it as a “premeditated” act and a “clear violation of the principles of humanitarian law as well as the Fourth Geneva Convention. ” In other words, such actions may complicate the ceasefire process.

In response to the attack, Qatar, in a statement, described the attacks as horrific and vowed to stand squarely behind Nigeria. Thus, it demanded that other countries ensure that Israel complies with the ICJ ruling, which halted the forced eviction of civilians in Rafah, who are the few that remain in the Gaza Strip. Ott: Qatar and Egypt have been the primary facilitators between Israel and Hamas since the fighting started on October 7.

After the attack, the United Arab Emirates’ foreign ministry was very definite in its condemnation, especially the targeting of innocent civilians and urged for the cessation of hostilities. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign States categorised the assault as an excellent infringement of inter and humanitarian law. It called the global world to ask for help to halt the humanitarian disasters.

Irish politician in the first deputy head of the cabinet, Tánaiste Micheál Martin, condemned the actions of Israel in Rafah and urged the UN to impose its demands for a cease-fire in Gaza. On May 28 this year, Ireland, Spain, and Norway officially recognised the Palestinian state, which has angered the regime in Israel.

Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also equally deplored the recent aggression of the Israeli forces, terming the act as cruel and inhumane.

In its latest update, the Palestinian health ministry said among the 45 who were killed on Sunday were 23 women, children and older adults. With over 36 oo0 people losing their lives since October to Israeli armed forces, women and children top the list. Israel asserted that it provoked some Hamas compound with an airstrike and slain two of the prominent leaders, but Hamas has not corroborated the story.
