World leaders urges restraint after Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel

Iran has warned Israel and the United States that it will face a much harsher response if they respond to a large-scale drone and missile attack on Israeli soil overnight.

The fear of open war between the old rivals of the Middle East and the involvement of the United States in it has put the region in a dangerous situation. Washington has said that the US does not want a conflict with Iran, but it will not hesitate to protect its forces and Israel.

World powers Russia, China, France and Germany along with the Arab states of Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates urged the parties to act with restraint.

German Chancellor Olaf Schulz told reporters during a visit to China that “we will do everything possible to prevent further escalation.”

“We can only warn everyone, especially Iran, against continuing this issue,” he said.

Turkey also warned Iran that it does not want further tension in the region.

Tehran has cited the attack on Israel as justification for the deadly attack on its consulate building in Damascus.

The Iranian mission to the United Nations said that “this matter can be considered closed.”

Hours after the attack on Israel on Saturday, the Iranian mission made the statement in a post on social media platform X.

“However, if the Israeli government makes another mistake, Iran’s response will be much tougher,” the Iranian mission warned.

On Sunday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also warned Israel and its allies against any “reckless” action following Tehran’s drone and missile strikes.

This is the first time in history that Iran launched a direct military attack on Israeli soil.

The Iranian president said in a statement that “if the Zionist regime or its supporters show negligence, they will receive a decisive and severe response.”

Tehran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that after several countries condemned the attack, it sent the French, British and German ambassadors “to protest against the irresponsible attitude of some officials of these countries regarding Iran’s response.” Asked to do it.’

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Tehran on Sunday that Iran had informed the United States that its attacks against Israel would be “limited” and would be in self-defense.

On Saturday night, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced that they had fired “dozens of drones and missiles” at Israeli military installations.

The Iranian mission to the United Nations called the drone and missile launch into Israel “legitimate defense” and said that “Iran’s military action was in response to the aggression of the Zionist regime on our diplomatic compound in Damascus.”

Israel’s military called Iran’s attack a “failure” and said it had shot down 99 percent of the drones and missiles with the help of the United States and other allies.

Iran’s army chief Mohammad Baqeri said the attack had achieved all its objectives.

Bagheri said Iran’s retaliation targeted an “intelligence center” and an air base from where, according to Tehran, Israeli F-35 jets took off to attack the Damascus consulate on April 1.

“These two centers were clearly destroyed,” he said. On the other hand, Israel maintains that only minor damage has been caused as a result of the attack.

The Iranian army chief said that there is no intention to continue this operation.
