Israeli historian Benny Morris called on the occupying state to wage war on Iran with non-conventional weapons (nuclear) if necessary, to eliminate its nuclear project before it is completed, criticizing what he described as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leniency in dealing with Tehran, which always expresses its intention to destroy “Israel.”
Morris said in an article published in the Hebrew newspaper “Haaretz” that “there is no better moment than this moment to launch a strategic strike on Iran, thanks to the asymmetric balance of power between it and Israel.”
He added that “destroying the Iranian nuclear project is an existential duty for Israel,” noting that Tehran “has become on the verge of launching uranium enrichment to a level of 90 percent and has accumulated enough material to produce enough for a bomb.”
The Israeli historian considered that “the countries of the world will understand a military attack with non-conventional weapons against Iran,” stressing that “Israel’s survival could be more important to the country’s residents than international condemnation and even sanctions if they are imposed, and I doubt they will be imposed.”
He warned against Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons, noting that if Tehran were able to do so, “the presence of such a weapon in its hands, even if it does not use it, will cause any investor or potential newcomer to flee (from the occupying state), especially since it expresses its intention to destroy Israel.”
He pointed out that Iran’s possession of nuclear weapons would cause many Israelis to flee the occupied territories, explaining that in this way, “Israel will wither against the backdrop of repeated strikes that will be directed at it, similar to what happened on October 7th.”
Morris said that “if Israel’s conventional capabilities are not able to eradicate the Iranian nuclear project, then it must use non-conventional capabilities for this purpose,” considering that the situation “has reached decisive moments, and Israeli leaders must make a decision.
