The Moroccan authorities recently permitted an Israeli warship to dock at the port of Tangier, enabling its crew to replenish fuel and food supplies during a journey from the United States. This decision followed the Spanish government’s refusal to allow the vessel to use its ports. The move has sparked a significant backlash from the National Action Group for Palestine in Morocco.

 Pino said, “This was a violation of national sovereignty,” adding the sentiment of the National Action Group for Palestine on the matter. “A swift inquiry must be conducted to identify liabilities and to coordinate repercussions for those who are accountable for this reprehensible act, “A democratic leftist group slams the move, stressing that it is disrespecting and insulting the feelings of Moroccans. The decision to remove the mural triggers a reaction to a scandalous violation of the rights stated in the constitution, an aggression on the culture and history of Morocco. 

 Similar to what the group stated in a letter published in Al-Quds Al-Arabi, it said that this event was within the Yemeni people and army’s attempts to thwart Zionist ships from passing through Bab Al-Mandab and the Red Sea. Such efforts are somewhat meant to restrain or minimise what they refer to as “Zionist massacres. ” The timing corresponds with Spain’s decision not to permit ships participating in acts of genocide to dock in Spanish ports, in conformity with global treaties and the decision of the court. 

 An Israeli online news site said the INS Komemiyut warship was mentioned to have been replenished in Morocco before it proceeded to Israel from the US. The site corroborated this information using insider and ship databases, indicating that this incident enhanced defence relations between Morocco and Israel. 

Further, anti-Israel protests by Morocco took place on Monday through vigils and marches in several Moroccan cities, and several chants targeted the use of the Israeli ship in Tangier’s port. These manifestations indicated that the population was dissatisfied with the Moroccan authorities’ decision. 

 In this view, diplomatic sources have provided information on the position that the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not grant clearance to any ship transporting any weapon to Israel to anchor in the Spanish ports. This stance corresponds to the global policies aimed at regulating and ensuring countermeasures concerning the mobility of military equipment and addressing the humanitarian issues arising from the ongoing conflicts. 

 The Moroccan government’s actions for facilitating the visit of an Israeli warship have thus not only caused a furore at home but exposed the political narrative and essence of contemporary geopolitics and politics of maritime Governance. The National Action Group for Palestine’s call for such investigation indicates the continuously heightened national debate on Morocco’s foreign policy stances and compliance with the national and international norms of diplomacy. 

 This act is a new event regarding Morocco’s relations with Israel or any other country; this is because countries need to tread carefully in their activities. The Moroccan authorities are now facing domestic political opposition while interpreting the consequences of their resolution for regional and international relations.
